Prop-based manipulation varies from prop to prop. Usually the prop has multiple parts and you are manipulating the rest of the prop with a single part. In Kendama you hold the handle and toss the ball up with it and try to make it in the hole. But with devil sticks you are holding the hand sticks and trying to keep the devil stick in the air. It isnt just a single motion for this entire category.
Cigar Boxes
Juggling Cigar Boxes are in this section because they are usually “juggled” by using other cigar boxes to throw them in the air, balance, or have them guided fall. They aren’t just kept in a certain pattern like the multi-object manipulation section.
Juggling Hats
Tumbler Juggling Hats are in this section because they are used to stall more than they are used to juggle. In performances they are used for comedy juggling mostly. But the stalls they do are elbow stalls, foot stalls, knee stalls, and head stalls.
Fire Devil Stick
Fire Devil Stick is a devil stick that is tipped on both sides with Kevlar. Devil sticks come in 3 pieces 2 handsticks that are wood covered in rubber and a devil stick which is generally a wooden dowel wrapped in fabric. The purpose is to keep the devil stick in the air with the handsticks.
Diabolo
Diabolo is also known as a Chinese yo-yo it is in multiple parts. 2 handsticks connected with a string, and the plastic diabolo. The purpose is to keep the diabolo spinning and manipulate it by throwing it in the air with the handsticks and catching it.
Yo-Yo
Yo-Yoing is similar to Diabolo, except that it is a string and a metal body that is connected. The point is to manipulate the yo-yo with only the string.
Kendama
A Kendama is a wooden toy consisting of 3 parts a wooden ball with a hole, a wooden handle with 3 indents and a tip. And a string connecting the two. Basic levels of play the goal is to get the ball on the tip of the Kendama.
Plate Spinning
A spinning plate is more known as a circus act with clowns, but upper levels of spinning plates performers are able to juggle multiple plates on the hand sticks keeping all the plates spinning. Comes in 2 pieces a handstick and a plate.
